CHALLENGES & ACHIEVEMENTS
In 2022, due to the thriving construction activities and material shortage in NZ, securing bookings for concrete pours became challenging. It was customary to book a concrete pour 4 or more weeks in advance. Additionally, concrete construction was always susceptible to weather conditions, which meant scheduled concrete pours were likely to be rescheduled or cancelled. This significant factor added to our workload and risked project delays.
During this project, we collaborated closely with concrete suppliers, the main contractor, and other relevant subcontractors to secure concrete bookings and meet the tight construction programme. Thanks to efficient communication with all parties involved, we consistently prepared backup plans to mitigate the risk of cancelled or missed concrete pours, whether due to adverse weather conditions or requests from the main contractor. V-Pro always planned proactively whenever a potential risk was identified or observed.
According to the site conditions and structural design, various methodologies of concrete work were involved in this project. Different concrete specifications, pouring methods, as well as shotcrete, were all required. Based on our experience in concrete work, we effectively coordinated with service providers and personally supplied essential equipment to ensure the project's smooth execution.
The valuable new experiences gained from this project have made us ready to tackle even more challenging projects in the future.
